Originally aspiring to become a psychologist working with Veterans, Angela received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and began working at a non-profit mental health organization in the Baltimore area. After experiencing burnout and seeing limited treatment options for individuals with complex mental health diagnoses, she wanted to find ways to help people suffering from ailments that did not require prescription medications with a more natural approach as well as find a career that was more aligned with a low stress lifestyle.
After leaving mental health, she discovered Acupuncture was an effective treatment for pain and stress. This inspired her to become a Licensed Massage Therapist so she enrolled in a Master Bodyworker Program which involved over 900 hours of training in a variety of massage modalities including: Swedish, Sports, Medical/Injury, Craniosacral, Hydrotherapy, Shiatsu, Acupressure, Structural Integration, Myokinetics, Pathology, Kinesiology, Functional Assessment and Orthopedic Testing.
After working for 2 years in Chiropractic offices primarily with car accident patients and patients with chronic pain, she decided she wanted to help her patients in a more comprehensive way. She then went on to enroll in an Acupuncture program to enhance the treatments she had already learned while working with Musculoskeletal Injuries. She also went back to working in Mental Health for 2 years at an Intensive Rehabilitation Facility which was a step-down from the state psychiatric hospital.
During her time in Acupuncture School, she went on to receive her Certification in Personal Training from the Brookbush Institute of Human Movement Science-this involved 50 contact hours of Functional Anatomy, Corrective Exercise, Research, Strength and performance Training, Joint Mobilization, and Integrated Manual Therapy and Orthopedic Testing.
She also taught at American Massage and Bodywork Institute for 2 years where she taught Anatomy & Physiology, Pathology, Kinesiology, Ethics and Professional Development, Assessment & Treatment Planning National Exam Prep. She assisted with the development of Online Instruction and Continuing Education Courses.
Angela received her Master’s of Science in Acupuncture from Virginia University of Integrative Medicine in 2023 with a GPA of 3.77. Her curriculum included over 2000 hours of didactic education and 690 hours of clinical supervision. This included 54 credits hours of Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, Microbiology, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Immunology, Biophysics, Internal Medicine, Medical Diagnostic Testing, and Orthopedic and Neurological Treatment and Evaluation.
